How do I determine the size book to use?

  The height of the book is determined by the largest measurement in the pattern plus a minimum of 1cm, or if you want it centered add the largest measurment plus the smallest measurement. For the width of the book, use the last number on the pattern page. If the pattern goes 1,2,3 you double it. If it says 1,3,5 use those measurments.

Help my confusion please. Template states fold 1, mark 1 is 7,4. Mark 2 is 7,4. What does this mean. First time here and can’t find videos that help.
